Jack Dorsey's Resignation

In massive business and social media news, we should seriously talk about the fact that a lot of you Twitterholics—all over the Twitterverse—are still unaware that Twitter CEO, Jack Dorsey, recently resigned from the bird app.

Initially, I started seeing reports citing an anonymous source, but then Dorsey himself tweeted:

Jack also announced that effective immediately, Chief Technology Officer, Parag Agrawal, would begin as CEO.

Still and all, Dorsey added that yes, he himself will be active on the board until around May next year. But then, after that, he's getting the hell out of the way.

What a weird, wild ride it's been for Jack Dorsey.

If you don't know the history of Twitter, he was pushed out as CEO back in 2008 and later returned in 2015. Then last year, he saw Twitter stakeholder, Elliott Management, trying to oust him again—basically because Dorsey's also the CEO of Square and reportedly, execs were worried that running both was stretching resources at Twitter too thin.

In the coming weeks, months and years, it'll be interesting if anything with Twitter looks drastically different. Not just in the way it looks, though. Or in the way it works, either. I'm more particular about how far it's going to be moderated.

Right now, it appears that Wall Street doesn't really know how to react to this. When the news first started breaking, the stock price went up 10%, then later it dropped back to essentially where it was.

Ultimately, time will tell what the hell this is actually going to do.

Let's Talk About Malaria

Malaria, which has plagued mankind probably longer than any other disease, just got easier to fight.

Many thanks to a new vaccine called Mosquirix, which was just endorsed by the World Health Organization (WHO).

This very vital vaccine is targeted towards children who are the most affected by malaria. It's meant to get their immune system into gear, to fight the deadliest of the five (5) malaria pathogens and the most prevalent in Africa.

Now, this is a bloody big deal basically because every single year, over four hundred thousand (400,000) people die from malaria—with over half of those being children under the age of five (5).

This is huge news, not just because it's the first vaccine against malaria, but because it's the first vaccine against any parasitic disease!

Unlike viruses and bacteria, parasites are much more complex—which means making an effective vaccine against them is way harder.

And for the sake of specificity, this vaccine isn't perfect, or a cure-all.

In clinical trials across Kenya, Malawi, Ghana, N̶i̶g̶e̶r̶i̶a̶ it had about a fifty percent (50%) efficacy against severe malaria in the first year, but that dropped to near zero in the fourth year.

Still and all, it is so much better than the next best measure, which is implementing bed nets—for children—that only cut malarial deaths by twenty percent (20%), so this is a massive jump.

Now, looking into this, I do want to note that the trials did not directly measure the vaccine's impact on death, leading some experts to wonder whether it will be worthwhile to actually deploy.

Regardless, at the very least, this is an important step forward.

The way I see it, you're stacking several imperfect but very helpful things to try and protect people.

Clearly, this is going to be a pretty much meaningful situation to watch.

I mean, the countries that took part in the clinical trials have already changed their vaccination routines.

And it's now possible—because of this—we might see some very important, great leaps here.

A Shocking Update on the OnlyFans Issue‼️

OnlyFans has announced that they're dropping their plan to ban sexually explicit content come the first of October.

All of a sudden, they're trying to change the narrative around their initial decision to ban porn. Of course, they obviously can't afford to lose their most loyal creators. Loyal as in profitable.

For the first time, OnlyFans (seemingly) tried to side with the sex workers so many had accused them of blindsiding; essentially blaming banking and payment services.

Tim Stokely, the founder and CEO of OnlyFans, specifically stated that certain banks had refused service with the OnlyFans platform because of “reputational risk”.

He also denied accusations that the decision to ban porn was made as a way to easily find investors.

Regardless, even with the shocking 180-degree U-turn, the reception has been far from positive.

Understandably, moving forward, OnlyFans is going to have a major trust problem on its hands—with many creators still likely worrying wondering what would stop the platform from potentially doing this again.

Right now, sex workers on OnlyFans are trying to do a very specific dance on shifting grounds.

They just need to diversify and diversify a little more.

Enormous Earthquake Escalates Further Devastation in Haiti 🇭🇹

Haiti, if you don't know, was struck by a completely catastrophic 7.2 magnitude earthquake of late.

According to recently released numbers, it has killed nearly 1,300 people and has injured at least 5,700 others.

And notably, that shake was way more powerful than the 7.0 one that hit Haiti back in 2010, which of course claimed the lives of more than 200,000 people.

But, this time around, the quake reportedly hit a less densely populated area in the southwest part of the country.

It does need to be understood, though that this is still a developing situation. Right now, it is impossible to assess the full scope of the casualties and damages.

As I'm typing this, rescue teams are continuing to dig through the rubbles of collapsed structures.

The quake and its aftershocks have had a super disastrous impact on thousands of locals left suffering and displaced—with people screaming and sobbing in the streets as they scramble to save or just locate their loved ones.

Reports say that more than 27,000 homes have been damaged or destroyed—along with schools, churches and other structures.

The earthquake could not have come at a worse time for Haitians who are still reeling from the recent assassination of the country's president.

Talk about a dark spot amid Haiti's woes.

And on top of the political turmoil that followed, it made a wave of gang violence.

Plus, the government isn't financially equipped (in the slightest) to handle such colossal crisis.

In case it's unclear, Haiti is considered the poorest nation on the western hemisphere. Not to mention it's already dealing with the extremely egregious effects of the coronavirus pandemic. Matter-of-factly, they had only just started undergoing a mass roll-out of COVID vaccines.

Additionally, let's not forget that the southern peninsula of the country is still recovering from Hurricane Matthew which hit back in 2016.

To make matters more maniacal, the devastation has gotten way worse because of Tropical Depression Grace which hit the exact same area and triggered mudslides and flooding further hampering rescue and recovery efforts.

With this ever expanding shit show, the US—along with the United Nations and several other relief organizations—have already promised to send swift assistance.

Which is desperately needed as hospitals are totally overwhelmed with patients.

As well as the ton of locals out there struggling to get a hold of basic essentials like food and water.

I'll be keeping an eye on this absolutely devastating story to see how the situation changes.

The O̶u̶t̶r̶a̶g̶i̶n̶g̶ Outrageous OnlyFans BS

I'm not always so cocksure about everything, but I'm pretty certain that thoroughbred perverts like myself must have seen this hideous headline.

That's right, OnlyFans is getting out of the pornography business.

Sure as my blood's red and my semen's sticky, there's no way in porno town that this is gonna hit all adult stars—on the platform—equally.

Notwithstanding, it does appear that OnlyFans is drawing the line at actual sex so creators like Lala Koi, Zmeena Orr, Lena the Plug, Belle Delphine et ​al. will basically bear the brunt of the storm.

Consequently, I've already seen a number of (seemingly) big reactions. On Twitter, most especially. For example, a creator called Laura Lux tweeted:

This is going to be very interesting to watch because it is happening at an equally interesting time for OnlyFans.

By all accounts, OnlyFans is a super successful company. There's not an iota of doubt regarding the company's success. Not to mention the tons of users.

Still and all, they're having hard times right now finding investors—which, I would say, is kinda crazy to me.

Regardless, part of the problem here could just be the pornography.

There's also concern that payment platforms might pull their support in the future like they did with Pornhub.

What tickles my funny bone is the fact that they're not even trying to raise more than a two-billion-dollar valuation. In case it's unclear, they freaking handled two billion dollars last year‼️

What else could we see here⁉️ A company clearly turning its back on the number of people that technically, built the platform. Typical.

Unless OnlyFans reverses course, or they get cute with their language so they don't actually do the ban, it's fuck OnlyFans.

They're just casting aside the people that made them a thing. Plain and simple.

I understand they want mainstream acceptance, but it feels incredibly stupid to look over at what Tumblr did and see it as a “great” business plan.

So, by banning the thing that made them super relevant, the only fucking that's gonna be allowed on their website is OnlyFans fucking over the creators.

What maddens me most is that there's so few places that are safe for these sex workers. Especially, places that don't exploit and rip them off.

Ultimately, it just feels scummy to me.
