Obesity in Children Carries a Hefty Price Tag

Right now in Puerto Rico, legislators are debating whether there should be a fine for having obese children.

The plan right now would involve teachers flagging potentially obese children, health department officials would come in, see if it's overeating, try to see what the cause is, and at that point, a 6-month timer starts.

At the end of that timer, if the child is still obese (according to officials), the parents would be charged $500-$800!

After news broke that this was being debated, there are many doctors out there that said this is unfair.

I'd love to know your opinion on this because those people that do support it, say they support it because more than 28% of children in Puerto Rico are obese — if you compare that to US mainland, that's only 18% there.

Also, that obesity in unhealthy people clog up the healthcare system, they cause the country money, and one of their big points was that raising an obese child was akin to child abuse.

While those against it have points that range from this being fat-shaming, people might start abusing their children by starving them, and I think most notably, this attacks and punishes the poor, since a lot of the food that people can get for cheap is terrible for you.

So, that was a thing.

Amazon Prime Air

Everyone (but you) is talking about Amazon announcing drone delivery services. My friends in the U.S. kinda got really excited, but here's the deal: it's not going to happen anytime soon.

The idea that you could order something, and then get it delivered to your house via drone service, in 30 minutes, is absolutely awesome (and super sexy too).

The guy running Amazon said that it probably won't be available till 2015; even though it's not like till 2020 that the Federal Aviation Administration is even going to certify commercial drones. And really, that's the year that actually matters: 2020. Because, the way Amazon wants to use these things, that's when they'll have to wait till.

Additionally, that's also the reason that if this is the way that things are going to be delivered in the near future, China is going to beat every country to the punch. Reportedly, they could be the first place to legalize parcel delivery by drones. While the FAA has their timeline in the United States, in China right now, with the permission of the government, they're testing this.

Proportionally, while I do believe it's a generally cool idea, there are people on the internet not too happy, saying that if this does happen, they will shoot drones down from the sky (which seems like a huge escalation of what I'm typing about right now)! But that's alright though.

I personally like the idea. It just oozes of awesome that I had to share with you. Nonetheless, it's 2013, going on 2014; and we live in the age of "I want it now, give it to me now, OMG, I got it now!", we want everything now now, sharp sharp, super sharpish. Or, like we say in Nigeria: sharp(a)ly. Also, we constantly talk about how the internet and social media are making us less personal, but really, it just gives you the option of being personal with the people you actually want to; and avoiding all the other people whenever possible.

The Height of Incest

I had to blog about U.S. Marine Stephen Lewis. He was a private first class stationed at Camp Pendleton in Southern California; who apparently loved mirror selfies.

He was arrested for trying to arrange to have sex with an entire family.

The only problem is that when he tried to make this arrangement on the incest website: family4love.com, the man he was talking to was in fact, an undercover Homeland Security agent.

Then to take a deeper dive into the oh-that's-disgusting, I got the text exchange:

Later, the undercover asked Lewis what fantasies he would want fulfilled with his daughter, and he replied:

Lol, creepy pedophiles! Just like everybody else.

And then there was this exchange about how he would want to buy masks at Walmart, and sex toys at a place near Walmart, blah blah blah. It's all weird, and I try not to pass judgement on sexual things (for obvious reasons).

Ultimately, what happened was that Lewis drove 400 miles to meet this father. When he got there, he was arrested. They found the masks and sex toys in his car, so he wasn't just talking. As well as submitting a child pornography on his computer and his phone.

For some strange reason, this makes me terrified to ever have children; and also, the fact that this arrangement was being made means that in the weird country of the United States, people actually do this!

This is way too terrifying and awful. No amount of Clorox can undo this now (together with the gory #ALUU4 video images in my head; not to mention the tons and tons of hardcore pornographic material).
