An Update on the Malaysian Airlines Flight That Disappeared Over the Weekend

Since this happened, because of the 24 hour cycle of mainstream media, there's been a lot of misinformation. Nonetheless, today the headline I see is:

So what this meant, is that the plane could be anywhere within twenty two hundred nautical miles.

And then there's talk about US counterterrorism, believing maybe the pilot did blah, blah, blah.

Here's what this is again and just as a reminder: they're talking about 2,200 nautical miles because they have no idea what the hell happened. And because of this new range, it was believed that maybe the plane had crashed near China. There are satellite images with photos of debris but when they went there, there was nothing there.

So, the principal point here is people still don't know anything but they're reporting on it like they do.

Malaysia Airlines

Early Saturday morning, Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 lifted off at Kuala Lumpur with 227 passengers and 12 crew members; and started to make its way to Beijing, and then, it disappeared.

And now, even with the efforts of search clues from 10 different countries, the mysterious disappearance is leaving airline officials scratching their heads; and terrified family members of those onboard the flight, waiting for any type of information.

34 planes and 40 ships are scouring a 100-nautical mile stretch of sea where radar first picked up the flight before it vanished. But still, there's no trace of the plane, and no tiny wreckage has been located.

Data indicates that Flight MH370 may have double-backed and turned around near Thailand's border but the pilot provided no verbal indication or signal of distress.

As of now, authorities are not ruling out anything: the plane could have simply malfunctioned, went down in the ocean, disintegrated at 35,000 feet due to mechanical failure, or the passengers could be the victims of terrorism.

But then, on Sunday, a group that no one has ever heard of before – called the Chinese Martyrs' Brigade – claimed responsibility. But, many authorities and news agencies are dismissing it as a hoax.

There were big reports that there was an oil slick found in the ocean, but it's been reported that it is not the plane.

Then, it's been reported that during the search, they found debris – a yellow object they called it.

But, it's seeming like authorities are believing it's not the plane.

Now, authorities are beginning to focus on the identities of 2 men that they know boarded the plane with stolen passports.

Now, although it's alarming that they made it through screening, it's important to know that the region is notorious for illegal immigration to a Western country. So, officials are not jumping to the terrorism conclusion. Those fake passports belong to Christian Kozel of Austria; the other to Luigi Maraldi in Italy. Additionally, the tickets purchased under those names were one-way tickets. While fake passports might be related to terrorism, it also might be related to human trafficking. There are lots of possibilities.

5 very fortunate people didn't board the plane that day, for one reason, or another.

Situation is tragic, and crazy, and I can't imagine what all the family members are going through right now. Hopefully, they'll have some answers soon. I'll keep my eyes and ears open for any updates to this story, and I'll be sure to update you guys here.

Amazon Prime Air

Everyone (but you) is talking about Amazon announcing drone delivery services. My friends in the U.S. kinda got really excited, but here's the deal: it's not going to happen anytime soon.

The idea that you could order something, and then get it delivered to your house via drone service, in 30 minutes, is absolutely awesome (and super sexy too).

The guy running Amazon said that it probably won't be available till 2015; even though it's not like till 2020 that the Federal Aviation Administration is even going to certify commercial drones. And really, that's the year that actually matters: 2020. Because, the way Amazon wants to use these things, that's when they'll have to wait till.

Additionally, that's also the reason that if this is the way that things are going to be delivered in the near future, China is going to beat every country to the punch. Reportedly, they could be the first place to legalize parcel delivery by drones. While the FAA has their timeline in the United States, in China right now, with the permission of the government, they're testing this.

Proportionally, while I do believe it's a generally cool idea, there are people on the internet not too happy, saying that if this does happen, they will shoot drones down from the sky (which seems like a huge escalation of what I'm typing about right now)! But that's alright though.

I personally like the idea. It just oozes of awesome that I had to share with you. Nonetheless, it's 2013, going on 2014; and we live in the age of "I want it now, give it to me now, OMG, I got it now!", we want everything now now, sharp sharp, super sharpish. Or, like we say in Nigeria: sharp(a)ly. Also, we constantly talk about how the internet and social media are making us less personal, but really, it just gives you the option of being personal with the people you actually want to; and avoiding all the other people whenever possible.

Huge Hornets Hunting Humans In China!

Very recently, many major media outlets have been reporting that there's a huge hornet problem in China. 21 people (in one province alone) have died as a result of the stings.

A picture of the hornet has been posted. This killer variety being the Asian Giant Hornet. Typically 2.2 inches long, and they attack in swarms!!!

And, hey, if you plan on running, they reportedly can fly at speeds of 25 miles per hour!!!

So, good luck with that trip to China!

The Syria Situation Continues To Spiral Out Of Control

Despite extended and wagging fore fingers, and some don't-you-dare's from the mouths of China and Russia, US Defence Secretary, Chuck Hagel, told the BBC that American forces are prime and ready to attack Syria, if President Obama does, in fact, order a strike.

This is all in response to the Syrian government's alleged use of chemical weapons on their own people.

The Syrian government adamantly denies the accusations, but US Secretary of State, John Kerry, suggests that there's undeniable proof. He further said:

Government sources are saying that US President, Barack Obama, and the British Prime Minister, David Cameron, have been talking, and will continue to talk, and if an agreement is made to attack, it could happen as early as this week.

On the other side of things, we have
China's official news agency saying:

While
Russian Deputy Prime Minister, Dmitry Rogozin, tweeted:

Now, if all the world is a stage, this is a very tense act.
Russia and China backed the Syrian regime, saying there's no glaring evidence of the use of chemical weapons. US and Britain are stuck between this weird place of action and big talk. The UN is trying to formulate a way to respond without things getting too messy. Too late. And, the Syrian people are caught right in the middle.

Some clamour for international intervention, while others are crying for the
West to stay the freak out.

And, don't for one nanosecond think that the
Syrian government is going to just push over. A senior Syrian official had a different kind of warning for America. That being from Halef al-Muftah, saying that Israel will be under fire, if the United States attack Syria.

Also, the
Syrian Foreign Minister said:

I just hope that those "materials" are not of the chemical nature, because that's exactly what this whole thing's about.

So, the world is still waiting on official confirmation from the inspectors at
Damascus. But, their jobs have been hampered by the Syrian government; as well as sniper attacks, and reports that shells are still falling on the area where the attack took place. And, that's why inspectors are delaying inspections that were supposed to happen a few days ago.

John Kerry states that this is the Syrian government trying to systematically destroy evidence before UN inspectors enter into the area. It's all a mess!

The
Pentagon has positioned four warships in the region, with missiles, ready to strike.

Britain moved airfighters within striking distance, and the world is on the edge of its seat, waiting to see who makes the next move.

Obviously, it's scary, because the common denominator here is human life.
